Kids Catch A Mess Of Fun
Four boat loads of kids ages 8 to 15 caught a lot of fish while participating in the Young Outdoorsmen United free guided fishing trip this weekend. A combination of excellent weather and perfect timing of spawning conditions resulted in the youth landing over 125 white bass on Grand Lake near Grove Oklahoma. The event was aimed at providing kids the opportunity to experience fishing from boats on open waters of a large lake. Reel Time Adventures Guide Services (provided the boats, equipment, and everything needed to allow the youth to have memorable outing. (https://www.facebook.com/ReelTimeAdventures/) “Today was so much fun, I caught way many fish” blurted out Joe Hicks age 10 from Rocky Comfort MO. “Those fish pulled on my fishing pole hard”. The white bass spawning period was at its peak and the aggressive feeding fish were not difficult to catch, allowing the young fishermen plenty of fast fishing action. Over half the participants had no prior or limited fishing knowledge. The Reel Time Adventures guides gave casting lessons, line tying instructions, and bait selection tutoring to assist the kids with their fishing experience. “Casting the rubber worm was neat. I got better by the end of the day” quipped 9 year old Chaelynn Stauber, Noel MO. “I did pretty good”. After docking the boats at Elk River Landing and Marina, a fish cleaning demonstration was in order so the kids could take home their catch of the day. Some of the youngsters had no problem gathering up the fish and eagerly placing them in the assembly line of electric filet knives for the guides of Reel Time Adventures to put in storage baggies for the kids to transport home. After eyeing his bag full of , 10 year old Sam Brewer stated “I can’t wait to eat me some fish and fried ‘taters”.
